From Script to Screen - Character Design: Death

With the fact of there being a casino world in mind, I thought about having Death be dressed in different outfits. For some reason my mind ran off on the idea of there being a cemetery looking place to begin with as well but I don't think I'll have that now. Afer drawing 4 versions of how Death looked the most popular at the time seemed to be 2 and the fact he has no face.
Grave Digger - For Cemetery
Casino Croupier - For Casino
Ring Master - For Tight Rope Walking

  1. Hey Alex,

    I like this idea of the 'costume changes' for death when he's in different environments - but it does feel that when he finally claims the janitor at the end, death should be THE GRIM REAPER finally - as if all the pretence has fallen away.

    You might want to look at the character of Hades from Disney's Hercules as a reference for your death character, because even though you're imagining him as mostly made as if from smoke, he's still going to need proper posing and dynamic body shaping; these might prove useful:
